Festival Celebration
- 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
At Shreerang, annual festivals like Ganpati, Diwali, Holi are celebrated in an environmental friendly manner. While doing these projects we look towards the preservation and non-toxification of the living as well as non- living objects in the surroundings. Usage of Plaster of Paris material while making Ganpati idols is harmful, hence we make use of paper, clay, cow-dung etc. The making of such idols are done by different unprivileged sectors of the community.
As mentioned earlier, Colours are the boon of Indian festivals like Holi. We make use of natural ingredients while making these colours. Similarly, we make some interesting holy food items with the use of colours. As a result, the visually impaired children, who do not enjoy the privilege to see colours can also enjoy these festivals in a very enthusiastic environment. Usage of ‘Best from the waste’, is the policy we apply wherever possible. While celebrating the national events like Republic day and Independence day, we teach the children to make the tricolour flag from the already donated or available items. Along with less use of resources and economy, the children learn to respect all the things around them.
Last year, the children made beautiful rakhis on Raksha Bandhan, as a token of love and safety between brothers and sisters. These rachis were made with the theme of reviving the traditional Dialects of Marathi. Along with these annual festivals, the children also enjoy the festivals like Waari, Christmas, Vat-Pournimaetc. Hence we concentrate upon the betterment and development of these special children through festivals, without disturbing the environment and including all the natural factors of the society.
